Marantz introduces next-gen Melody X

Marantz’ Melody series has been around for a number of years and we first saw its compact form with the Melody Stream network receiver back in 2014 (HFC 382). The newly introduced Melody X, priced at £629, is a total music system and mixes CD playback (including CD-R/RW), DAB tuner, network music streaming, voice control and HEOS multi-room capabilities in one. Rated at 2x 60W into 6ohm and using Class D amplification, it claims to be capable of driving two pairs of loudspeakers with independent volume control for each pair. Alternatively it can be configured to drive a single pair of speakers in bi-amping mode.

HEOS multi-room facilitates integration with other HEOS-equipped components around the home and streams music from Spotify, TuneIn, Sound Cloud, Tidal, Napster, or Deezer services or local networked music files all controlled via the free HEOS app.

File support claims up to 24-bit/192kHz for PCM and DSD up to DSD128. Bluetooth and AirPlay are on board, as is voice control compatibility via Alexa, Google or Siri. Socketry includes two optical digital inputs, one analogue in and one out, as well as subwoofer out and a 3.5mm headphone out too. It’s available now for £629 in black or Marantz’ silver/gold finish (as pictured above) and you can find out more here.
