Rotel introduces Michi X3 Series 2 and X5 Series 2 amps

Japanese specialist Rotel has launched three upgraded Michi Series 2 models: the Michi X3 Series 2 and X5 Series 2 amplifiers, and P5 Series 2 stereo preamp.

The trio of new models boast Michi’s acoustic engineering design methods and the company claims they collectively feature over 320 component upgrades – with all three models updated to utilise ultra-high precision 8-channel ESS SABRE 32-bit/768kHz ES9028PRO DACs.

Power supplies and audio circuitry have been re-engineered and refined with optimised signal paths, and lower-noise circuitry. The £6,000 Michi X3 Series 2 showcases over 90 component upgrades delivering 350W of output power into 4ohm loads from analogue, digital, PC-USB (MQA, PCM, DSD), XLR and wireless aptX HD Bluetooth sources. A moving-magnet phono stage is also included.

The Michi X5 Series 2 drives the power output up to a claimed 600W of Class AB output (4ohm), powered by dual in-house manufactured oversized, shielded, low-noise toroidal transformers. It features over 95 component changes and adds XLR Balanced connectivity to the already impressive spec of its sibling. It’s yours for £8,200.

The Michi P5 Series 2 preamplifier has been updated and refined with over 125 component upgrades rendering digital music through dual eight-channel ESS SABRE digital-to-analogue converters each specially adapted to mono mode. Dual toroidal transformers isolate the digital and analogue power supply feeds to further reduce noise and distortion levels. Supported source inputs include: analogue, digital and PC-USB with hardware MQA decoding (24-bit/384kHz), PCM (32-bit/384kHz) and DSD256. Bluetooth supporting aptX HD and moving-magnet and coil phono stages are also included. Pricing is £5,000.

The new Michi products are available now and you can find out more about them here.
